Session with Kent Henry

Sitting in Kent Henry’s teaching on the anointing...... I love it.  Question for church leaders and worship leaders:  are you letting God dictate what happens in your service or are you dictating to God what happens?  Hhmmmmmmm..... Guilty?  Raise your hands right now..... Where are you :)  I’ll hit you with more as it comes..

Kent Henry This Sunday!

I'm really looking forward to this week-end with Kent Henry and his family. Kent is an intense worshiper and he will be leading as in worship and speaking to us Sunday at 11am and 6pm. If you attend another church and you don't have services on Sunday nights i encourage you to come hang out with us at the 6pm service. It should be memorable to say the least!

Guest Blogger Pastor Jory Hire (Urban Pastor at LTG)

The Marks of a Believer
Should a Christian be different? That is my thought for today. The reason is that I spoke to a guy the other day who said he was "saved" (a term used in the church to signify that you are a follower of Jesus Christ) but I had my doubts. The reason for that doubt is that this man drank alcohol daily, and got drunk on a regular basis (Ephesians 5:18). He smoked tobacco (1 Thessalonians 5:22 / 1 Corinthians 6:19), had sexual relations with various partners (Romans 1:29), hit the clubs, and cursed like there was no tomorrow (Ephesians 4:29). These are his good points! What he is in denial about is that his religion is not Christianity, but rather a religion of self. Sin has separated him from the truth of who he really is! Colossians Chapter3 clearly advises us that we as "believers" must put away such things. If we do not show a difference in our lives, then we present no hope to fallen man. Our lifestyle (orthopraxy) has to match up with who we say we are (orthodoxy), and what the bible says that we should be or you are just dreaming about being a follower of Christ. If we are to be saved, we are saved through grace, and the mercy and blood of Christ alone, but that does not mean that we can float along and act any old way we want once we claim that salvation and confess Christ. The Word says that not everyone who says "Lord, Lord" will enter in to heaven. I can say that I am a mechanic, and live in a garage, but I am not a mechanic unless I can fix things! Being in a McDonald's does not make me a happy meal, neither does saying that you are something you are not. The proof is in the fruit. Today, remember that people are watching, and are looking for hope. Give them what they are looking for. -Pastor Jory

Hang time with Dad

Today I actually get face time with my dad, the legendary “Happy Pastor” and revivalist.  It is amazing how time slips by you and weeks turn into years and even though Dad works with me on staff here I don’t get to spend enough “face” time with him.  He gets to sit in on a financial meeting (FUN FUN :) and I get to take him to the eye doctor and then we’re going to see a great friend and church partner who is now in a nursing home in Murfreesboro.  I look forward to seeing Jim but getting to hang with my dad is great.  I think that we all should really just stop sometimes and MAKE time to spend with our family.  The fact is that they’re gone before we know it and I don’t know about you but I want to absorb and invest everything that I can from and into the people that I love the most while God has them with me.  Just for the record..... Dad is in great shape!  He just came seem to get the idea that you need safety glasses when you weed eat 15 acres! So here we are going to see the eye doctor! (LOL)

Hard stuff...... It's just hard!

Have you ever had to make a decision that you didn’t want to make?  Maybe to end a relationship that you know isn’t God’s plan for you?  Or to step into a direction that really requires you to trust God?  I have found for me that it is in those moments that God begins to move me forward in my journey.  What I mean is that life really is about our choices.  There will be times in all of our lives that decisions are required of us and when we know that it is a God thing it becomes a transition moment from where you are right now to where your God-given destiny is trying to take you.  Sometimes I think that God has to smack me in the back of the head a couple of times before I realize that HE has the plan not me!  I know, I know this is basic stuff but these are the places that we as leaders need to be speaking to because it is stuff that we all deal with and need guidance to help us navigate the rough waters of life.  We MUST trust God and when we know it is HIM, move on it.

By the way this weekend was sweet!  Sunday the presence of God just fell in the house!  I got to sing a couple of songs with the band and it was such a blast..... But the cool thing was opening my eyes and seeing young adults at the altar and on their knees crying out to God.  WOW!  This is a new season and I’m glad it’s here.....even if there are rough waters I know that God is doing something awesome...
I’m looking forward to Kent Henry being with us on Aug 31st as well.  Seems like God is lining us up for something great.

Weekend Look-Back

This past weekend... Highlights and thoughts:
  • We seem to be breaking through to some intense stuff as a church.
  • Every time I plan to speak about the presence of God I never get to preach. (some say that’s a good thing... lol)
  • That 90 minutes is impossible to stick too when God is moving.
  • And who made the 90 minute rule anyway? :) hhhhmmmmmmm...
  • we’ve seen over 500 people make decisions for Christ this year.... 17 this weekend
  • The church in America needs to recapture their hunger for God’s presence.
  • Watch Pastor Jeremy.... When he takes his mic off the stand... Look out! Lol

Special Update: Kent Henry will be with us at LTG Aug. 31st at 11am and 6pm

If you don’t know about Kent’s ministry then you need too....
