Changing of the Guard

I think that it's official. Pastor Eddie Turner has resigned from the
Superintendent's position effective after the TN District council this year.
It makes my heart heavy but I support Pastor Eddie and Amanda in whatever
ministry pursuit that they take on. They are both great people and great
leaders. Their leadership and direction is what inspired Tawana and me to
be a part of the Assemblies of God and I know I speak for many who have been
proud to serve alongside them as they navigated through some muddy waters.
The water is much clearer and refreshing than before they came into
Superintendant's office. My hope is that whomever steps into his position
will be wise enough to emulate much of what has been started. I do know
this... they must be a person of vision and experience. Not only in casting
the vision but also in bringing that vision to fruition.(many people can
dream but few can give a dream feet) It must be someone who is driven to
make the district office a resource for our churches and represent us well
in the general council and world council.
I'll wrap with this: Pastor Eddie and Amanda, You've been a blessing and
encouraged those of us "on the fence" and in the field. Thank you for these
years of service and here's to many more years of friendship and ministry
together. I pray the favor of God on your family and whatever you lay your
hand to.

I believe this quote wraps up my thoughts about Pastor Eddie and Amanda's
tenure:
"The final test of a leader is that he leaves behind him in other men the
conviction and the will to carry on. . . . The genius of a good leader is to
leave behind him a situation which common sense, without the grace of
genius, can deal with successfully." - Walter Lippmann

The changing of the guard for the Assemblies of God. A big change indeed, while I dont know Pastor Eddie personally it's obvious that he has a passion for the word of God and people. My one question would be "Who is stepping up?". Could it be you Pastor Clay or perhaps Pastor.Man that would be so cool. I know I would vote for the two of you,if thats how it's done. You both have the qualifications for the job and then some. Your work to reach out to the community and opening the church up to countless missionaries and the ability to take a vision from brain to hand are just a few I can come up with in a short space. Of course while there is a little humor in what I've written I honestly believe it could happen. Obviously the ability to preach and love people the way you two do is needed as well and you certainly have that.
Seriuosly though it could take place and I could'nt think of two finer men for the job.
And not to worry, your old jobs will always be there for you when you come back:-).
Pastor it's great to have you back and we cant wait to hear what God did through you while you were at the hospital. We're certain that is one hospital that will never be the same again.
Love ya'll
Mr.Bill

Pastor Clay and Tawana,
Thanks for your kind words. We love you both and your great church, Living to Go!
Just because our journey is changing, don't think you can get rid of us that easily. We will still be showing up at Christmas for "Charade Night"! It's a tradition. Hopefully the steps will be fixed by then! Plus, you probably owe us a coffee or two, so we will be around to collect.
Seriously, our friendship has been a breath of fresh air. Thanks for being real! Stay that way, it's the only way to serve Him.
Love,
Amanda T.
