Desert Experiences

I'm curious about something…. last night we talked about desert experiences and those moments when we feel disconnected from God. Last Sunday Terry Allen spoke about times when your doing everything seemingly right yet you still feel like your wandering in the desert. I thought it would be really cool to start some dialogue about some of those experiences. So take a few minutes and comment on one of yours. We can really learn a lot from each other…

When I first became interested in learning about God and the bible, I would talk to a friend/co-worker who was a preacher. I would go to his house and we had a group bible study. One day at work he asked me, " If Jesus is the comforter of the afflicted, is the afflicted the most comfortable? This was asked to me about 18 years ago in my quest of God's tugging on my heart strings. I think a lot of times we draw away from God when things are really going good, but I think I've been the closest in my darkest moments. I've learned that He's always there, but it's me that draws away or leaves His presents. I admire families that attend church together, because I never had that experience since we stopped attending when I was probably 6 or 7 years old and I often wonder, what would life be like if only my mom and dad didn't stop attending and I was raised in a church family? It wasn't until I was nearly 30 before the God placed that hunger inside of me and out of the blue I called a church and started going! What a wonderful family I have found at Living to Go and it's great when you feel welcome and that you belong! God bless you Pastor Clay, Pastor Paul, Pastor Alan, and all the men and women in the music ministry and youth ministry! Your in Christ, Bruce Campbell
